Weekend Update
I did something last night I don’t think I’ve done for at least 8 years. I stayed out until 6am. This is not only unheard of, but also a feat of will considering I started drinking at 4:30 for a company happy hour (where all drinks were free!). That was far away, though, so I knew I had enough and had to get my car closer to the city in case I needed to “cab it.” Which I did, eventually and I just want to say that we – my friend Amanda and her friends – were safe, safe.
A boy talked to me at one pub and I gave him my number but usually when that happens the boys don’t call me. And then I get pissed. Even though I’m not attracted to them and probably wouldn’t pick up the phone anyway. I think Bacon Boy [from Halloween] called this vanity (in a nice way) and I think he’s right.
So Amanda is my friend from Paddy O’s? And we went to Club Bucca on the Landing (barf barf)? But only because another bartender from Paddy O’s was working? And she gave us free drinks + shots (as if we needed one more)? And we went on the dance floor? (The dance floor, not on top of the bar. One, I don’t look good enough to do that anymore; two, I’m too old; and three, I haven’t done it since France. Where I didn’t really know anyone and didn’t care anyway. I was 20-21 then. That’s my excuse). And I’m dancing with Amanda? And all of the sudden “Bam!” someone is behind me, someone is behind her and they are as close as close can get. They’re like “magic” or something? Because you don’t even see them coming, what with the alcohol-induced fog and strobe lights (yet another reminder why I don’t need drugs). And then they disappear. And we got off the dance floor (Thank God). “It’s like free porn!” I said. I’m not sure why, but I thought it was clever. At the time.
Anyway, I’ll stop talking like a 13-year old girl and continue on. So then we met Amanda’s boy Kirk and his buddy Cory, who used to work at Paddy O’s too but were bouncing at this new club. (Cory looks like a bouncer: Tall, big, black, ex-football player). Then you will never guess where we ended up: Pop’s on the east side. Why? Cause it was open? I guess; I don’t know; I was just along for the ride, but wanted to go home at 4. You know, TWELVE hours after I started drinking. Though I stopped at 3 (Just call me “miss responsible”). And the bouncer boys and one other friend came and had a few drinks and Amanda and I danced and I requested a song (Don’t Cha) and because they were only out for a few beers, they drove us back to our cars. By that time, I was sober enough to drive home and I’m glad I had my car here this morning. Err, I mean this afternoon, when I woke at 3pm. Everyone spent the night at my house; Amanda and Kirk downstairs in my guest room and Cory in my bed (there were no other beds) and he didn’t try a damn thing. I am mostly happy about that, attributing it to him being just an all-around good guy who watches CNN Headline News. It could mean something else, but *shrug.*
This isn’t at all interesting. Anyway, Cory and I had coffee and watched the news and chatted and started “Walk the Line” while Mandy and Kirk were still sleeping in the basement. And normally I get all nervous when people are at my house and especially waking up like that with someone I didn’t know, but this time I didn’t. Me getting up from the couch to come to the computer to write this was the first actual movement I’ve made all day. But you know what? Although there are plenty of things I could/should be doing today, there isn’t really anything I absolutely *have* to get done. So that’s why I wasn’t worried or all stressed out about not getting home until after sunrise. People, I still don’t know how I did it.
PS – I woke up this morning sounding like an 80-year old frog woman. SEXY!

I'd say more like a 60-year-old frog woman. :)
